We're open

Repeat Medication requests need to be order at least 48 hours before they are due.  This does not include bank holidays or weekends.

We are now live with the Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) so if you have nominated a local pharmacy, your prescriptions will be sent electronically directly to your nominated pharmacy once issued and authorised by the GP. This service makes obtaining your medication very easy if you find it difficult to come to the surgery to collect your prescription. If you have not yet nominated a pharmacy, you can still get a green prescription from the surgery, or just pop in to a pharmacy of your choice and ask to nominate them.

We will stop taking prescription requests over the telephone from 1st July 2023.

The first and most important reason is safety. We are getting increasing numbers of discrepancies between what the patient says they have ordered and what has been requested by the reception team. Mistakes are likely due to confusion with drug name.

The Practice is getting busier and busier with more people on repeat medication for ever increasing complex conditions. The decision was made to stop the taking of prescriptions over the telephone to minimise the risk of a potential error causing a significant event.

We hope in making this change it will free up our phone lines for patients contacting us for other queries.

So as from July 2023, the practice will not be taking prescription requests over the telephone, you can request your repeat medication by the following methods:

  • Order through the NHS App
  • Order through our website via Patchs
  • Text your order to: 07800007773
  • Email your order to: cmicb-wi.hamilton@nhs.net
  • Complete a order form by hand and put your order in to the prescription box in our waiting room
  • Post your order request to us

Please also NAME each item you require.  Do not put ‘all medications’, ‘all repeats’ etc

We will NOT accept orders that don’t specify individual items.

This is to ensure not only do you get the correct medication you require, but also saves the NHS in millions a year on unwanted prescriptions being issued.

We know that this may not be popular with some patients, but we hope that you will understand that safety is of paramount importance.

Please note that this will not alter the time it takes to process a repeat prescription which is 2 working days.

Thank you for your understanding
