1st April – Controlled Drug Prescriptions to be sent Electronically

Since the introduction of EPS (Electronic Prescription Service) any Schedule 2 & 3 controlled drugs i.e. Pregabalin, Gabapentin, ADHD medication etc.. still had to be printed on a green prescription.

There was a pilot in London at the end of 2018 where 9 Practices could send these medications electronically and this was a success.

There is now a national roll out of this and our clinical system will be updated on 1st April to allow us to send these medications to your local Pharmacy electronically.

This is very beneficial to both you and us, especially for patients on many medications where the majority would go electronically but you were still required to come to the Practice to collect one item, this will no longer be the case, the full prescription will be sent electronically.
